About this role
The Weaviate Vector Search Engine covers data persistence, vector indexing, inverted indexing, integration with ML modules, an extensible module system, and various query mechanisms. For our customers and users, Weaviate is a core piece of their infrastructure that must work reliably and be easy to use and operate. Most of our users access Weaviate through one of our language clients, an essential part of the Weaviate ecosystem that provides seamless integration for our users.
As a (Polyglot) Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the Weaviate ecosystem by focusing on the interface between Weaviate and our users. Your responsibilities will include rewriting and enhancing our Go(lang) and C# clients to bring them on par with the Python and Typescript clients and working on the Weaviate server by improving the developer experience and quickly iterating on customer needs. You will be working closely with other Weaviate teams to enrich the functionality of clients, help improve existing functionality, make them more reliable, and support the team when bugs are discovered in order to create the best possible user experience.
What we are looking for
- Proficiency in C# and Go are must-haves, with the ability to write idiomatic code and navigate their ecosystems comfortably.
- An expert in creating developer-friendly SDKs.
- You are experienced with CI/CD and writing high-quality automated tests.
- Familiarity with Typescript and Java is a plus.
- Experience contributing to open-source software projects.
- You have a good understanding of what makes software “production-grade.”
- You are a great communicator and team player.
